If that doesn't work, try this. It gets a bit messy and you want to have a hose or extinguisher near. Warn the engine so it will idle low and smooth. Start the car with the valve cover off. Grab a wooden handled hammer and press the handle end against the top of rocker on the pushrod end and lean on it. It should collapse the lifter some (tick, tick). Release the hammer, and the lifter will pump up. The bad one will take longer.
too bad it's a hemi and the valve covers are $$$ or you could just cut the top off one to keep the mess to a minimum

how many miles are on the engine? usually a lifter bleeds off because of a smal piece of guck in it. Try running a qt of ATF or Rislone with your next oil change. That will clean the varnish and guck out.
I am truckless..

If your going to pull it apart, why not replace them all?
well, no plans to pull it apart just yet. the cam and lifters, springs and all are new, only a few thousand miles.
so if i can just figure out which one it is and replace it, that would be the ticket!

not exactly what you want both this video is worth a look: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-8762172118089635709does anyone have one of the old hydraulic lifter test stands that Chrysler, Ford or GM used to have in the specialized tool catalogs? I ask to be able to have a Brand name or official part number for eBay searches did you know that a Rhoads style hyd lifter has a flat machined on purpose to the internal piston outside diameter to cause it to leak down quicker, but in a repeatable way? http://tinyurl.com/6bglcphttp://tf.tribes.cc/telfort/px/url/287/p...p;RS=PN/5623898if you have trouble seeing the USPTO drawings which are TIFF files download and use the free Apple Safari for Windows browser program which has good tiff support built right in
