I used one like that in a 68 Dart

I just used a drive shaft with a slip yoke

worked good and bolted right in with a drive shaft change

dont know how right behind the rear seal is a roller bearing no way a slip yoke would slid in the tail housing unless you are talking about making a drive shaft with a slip joint like they use in a truck.

THE ONLY way to use that trans .. is to put on a tail housing and output shaft from a "regular" trans.

Clean it, if it's Dirty. Oil it, if it Squeaks. But: Don't fix it, if it Works!

In order to install this parts the trans must come apart. Are you capable of doing that ?

No, but I will learn. The shorty 727 was mostly a freebe. That'll be a good starting point.
I spent some time reading on Allpar last nite, and I'll get a 727's for Dummies book.

4wd truck with divorced transfer case.

Some 2wd trucks used it too IIRC.

Be sure when you are changing the output shaft and housing that you don't mix front planetaries. There are three different spline angles on the front output shaft spline and planetary and there are combinations of different angles that will go together but will tear out the planetary spline very soon after. Check the tech section here for the three different angles.
