Not dumb at all. I think the OP is confusing 2 separate options;

Option code N95 - "Nitrous Oxide Emissions Control" which, AFAIK does not affect exhaust system components.

Option code N97 - "Noise Reduction Package" which does affect exhaust system components.

I see what you mean after looking at the listing. I think they are referring to the N95 option. I would say if you don't have the part shown in 71redcuda's pic above then you don't have N95.

I have heard of the option (it was mandatory in California in some cases), but don't know what exact changes it made to the wiring.
