I bought a 518 transmission out of a B350 van so I didn't take the dipstick due to it's length. I purchased one from a Ram truck and when I looked at the markings all I see is the add dot and the bottom edge of the OK X marks.

That will put the topped off line half way up the tube seal is that the correct area for the oil level on these.

If anyone has a trans apart right now and can measure how far the dipstick protrudes past the end of the tube that would be very helpful, I have to shorten the one I'm using in my car.

Thanks

The dip stick on my A-518 that's in a 1991 dodge power ram 150 protrudes roughly 2 1/2 to 3 inches inside the pan. From what I can see. I can measure the full line on my dip stick and let you know if that helps?

That would help but I only have about 1 1/2" from the bottom of the tube to where it hits the corner of the pan.. I'm not sure why your pan is so much deeper.

On the 727 and 904 the FULL mark is 1/4" above the flat deck on the case where the dipstick tube inserts; I would imagine the 518 is the same.

Thanks John

That's just about where the mark is so I should be good with my setup.
