When we did ambulances at work we used Super Duty pads.I believe they were either Bendix or Wagner. They were pretty much for emergency vehicles. They were about 50 bucks a set.Stopped great and lasted.Rocky

My daughters 07 4 dr 1500 just does not stop as well as I think it should. Is there any replacement type brakes and rotors that would be better for stopping without breaking the bank? She has all OEM stuff right now.
There is no reason why it shouldn't stop as it originally did in oem trim.....
as long as you resurface or replace the rotors every time you replace the pads....use oem spec parts....should be zero problem. ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/Twocents.gif)

Slap a set of Performance Friction carbon metallic pads on it. Leave the rotors alone unless they are really nasty or warped. I love the Performance Friction c-m pads, they have a really linear feel and last quite a while. They aren't too expensive at Autozone or OReilly. Use them first. If they don't work, you need larger rotors, etc.
I have used new rotors and used rotors, never found much of a difference. I also have used Chinese, Canadian and American rotors and other than appearance have not found a difference in performance. This is on a K2500 Suburban which is a heavy beast.

I totally agree here.... those brakes are huge in stock form. Work on them daily and I've NEVER heard of a brake complaint on a newer Ram. The brakes on your 1500 would be a huge upgrade to the mid/late 90's 2500 truck!
