My daughters 07 4 dr 1500 just does not stop as well as I think it should. Is there any replacement type brakes and rotors that would be better for stopping without breaking the bank? She has all OEM stuff right now.

When we did ambulances at work we used Super Duty pads.I believe they were either Bendix or Wagner. They were pretty much for emergency vehicles. They were about 50 bucks a set.Stopped great and lasted.Rocky

Perhaps a full set from a wrecked SRT Ram...........that's what I'd do.

Are the spindles and everything the same? will the SRT-10 ram brakes bolt up to a regular ram? Just curious.

Going from what my '07 looks like and all the room there is in there, the SRT stuff should bolt right up and fit inside 20" wheels.

It would be no easy task, I'm sure. There's the M/C and ABS to fool around with as well....

There is no reason why it shouldn't stop as it originally did in oem trim.....

as long as you resurface or replace the rotors every time you replace the pads....use oem spec parts....should be zero problem.

Slap a set of Performance Friction carbon metallic pads on it. Leave the rotors alone unless they are really nasty or warped. I love the Performance Friction c-m pads, they have a really linear feel and last quite a while. They aren't too expensive at Autozone or OReilly. Use them first. If they don't work, you need larger rotors, etc.

I have used new rotors and used rotors, never found much of a difference. I also have used Chinese, Canadian and American rotors and other than appearance have not found a difference in performance. This is on a K2500 Suburban which is a heavy beast.

I totally agree here.... those brakes are huge in stock form. Work on them daily and I've NEVER heard of a brake complaint on a newer Ram. The brakes on your 1500 would be a huge upgrade to the mid/late 90's 2500 truck!

You would think that OEM would be ok, but it seems to me that it just does not stop as well my other Dodges. My Son's 07 stops better but it is a single cab. My 05 1 ton about the same but it has a tool bed and a Tommy lift and is always loaded. Now my 12 single wheel one ton has great brakes. It stops on a dime. Maybe they just really improved them over the years.IDK. Her truck warps the rear rotors easily. I've turned them once and they need it again. At 86,000 now I', going to replace all the rotors and pad with new stuff and see how that works.

Had a problem on my 99 1500 4x4 xtra cab when the shop that did a brake job on it didn't turn the rotors like I requested .... after a month I redid them myself (the right way turned rotors w/new pads again) brakes were perfect again

The brakes on my 04 quad cab 4x4 would put you through the windshield they worked so well

IMHO never (did I say never) install new brake pads without turning the rotors....same goes for drum brakes

PS....make sure whomever turns your rotors knows what their doing

99 1/2 ton brakes sucked! Those damn drums NEVER self adjusted. Every oil change we'd have to give the wheel a few spins to get some slight drag.

Not sure how comfortable you are with your dealer, but the on car lathe that is required for us to have is the katz azz!

For around $100 you can install the hydroboost brake setup from a 3rd gen diesel truck. Brake booster from an auto wrecker, reman master cylinder, and new power steering lines from a hydraulic shop. Twice the braking force with no effect on anti-locks or other electronics. Plus you end up with twice the empty space under the hood to get at the spark plugs.
