When did they change the hoods to add the crumple zones? Was it late in the 1970 model year and if so approx when? My R/T was built in March 1970 and does not have crumple zones in the hood.
Also, how were the callouts originally fastened onto the hood? Mine were attached w/ speed nuts but I know they were removed at least once to do a repaint before I got it.

The generally accepted date is 71 BUT all cars are different... My personal opinion and experience when looking at original cars is that All hamtrack cars were non crumple zones for all of 70 and early 71's. I have reason to believe that L.A cars went to crumple zones at the end of 70 model production. What plant is your car from?

So from the responses so far - my car should not have a crumple zone hood based on its build date, but could have one.
How about the call outs question? Does anyone have an answer for that one?

barrel or tube nuts as they are sometimes called for the engine callouts and speednuts for the dodge letters
