Many of the listed properties that supposedly make ATF+4 "superior" also exist in previous fluids i.e.

*Controls oxidation - eliminates deposits
•Anti-foaming

Every new fluid gets a lot of hype with its introduction, some buy the hype but others.............

Bottom line, ATF+4 is formulated for OD transmissions where the planetary gears run continuously and have lockup converters that need additives to reduce clutch shudder. Not necessarily the best choice for a non-lockup 3-speed.
