The numbers on my Cordoba's 727 are:
PK3681865 5008 8407
Does that mean on April 14, 1975 it was the 8407th trans built?
That is a lot of transmissions to build in a day!

Just curious

I worked at the Kokomo Transmission Plant from 76-80. As I recall they were making around 3-4,000 per day. They made all the automatic transmissions for Chrysler as well as some or all for AMC and I think some for others.

So I must be mistaken about what the last 4 numbers mean then. Anybody know what the 8407 means on my trans?

I'd think it'd be the date code for a specific year/month/day but if that is the case I'm not sure how you'd translate it unless it'd be 1978 for the (8), April for the (4), & the 7th day of the month (of April) for the (07)

The last four digits are the sequence number, the number in a sequence of units built that day. Nothing coded, just a simple number that started with 0001 each day.

I can't testify to the max number built in a day but I've seen similar high numbers.
