Not a huge surprise.

Up until a couple of years ago, I watched or recorded every one of the 23 National Events, but now I'm done. Why??

Combination of circumstances...
1. Crappy economy
2. Fan interest and attendance numbers are off significantly
3. Both NHRA & Nascar have alienated the general public by pushing admission, concessions and event prices beyond affordable levels
4. Need more local class involvement rather just the JFR mouth yapping
5. Need to bring Chrysler back to Nascar, need other brands beyond Ford, Toyota and Chevy

Just my $0.05...

Need to get rid of pro classes, need to say goodbye to force , caps, etc.. They need to run pro mod/ door slammer type cars. Need to get away from points system and go to a elimination type system like NFL, east vs west, or divisions like west, mid west, NE, SE. If they still think they need manufacturers then run the new muscle cars with limited mods they should still be able to run 8's or better

All the above. NHRA lost sight of the audience fan base ( reads working class) long ago. Just got my notice in the mail for the CARQUEST Nats in Feb at Wildhorse. Reserved seating ; Friday = $55, Sat = $80, Sunday = $85. General admission = "to be determined" - - WTF!!! General parking =$10. Premium parking = $25 - in advance only!. On the bright side, they now offer a payment plan. RU SHATING me!!! Wonder if I can use the payment plan for a hotdog?

All true statements! Would it kill them to show sportsman racing! I mean common Pinks and Passtime were/are popular at least the general public could relate a little more to that.

It would help if they would show it in the time slot it was suppose to be.

Yep ESPN sucks when TNT had it they always showed live qualifying and it was in a good time slot...It always gets the boot when anything else is on. Over the years I have actually missed it because of Chess, little league baseball, college football,National spelling bee and womens basketball! It's ridiculous....

all of those events you mention beat it by a mile in ratings, if NHRA pulled more viewers than the spelling bee it would be on, but it's way behind the spelling bee.

That seems to be the answer for everybody nowadays, and contrary to the Stock market setting records and all the talking heads, I think the lower ranks are still in a jam. But the racing bigshots are using this excuse, rather then making changes to get the fans back. Heck, mcDonalds is booming and they have kept it alive with a "dollar menu", and are still making money.

Reality check, that half the population is smarter then 50% of the people and it's a constantly contested fact.

The stock market being high is a sleight of hand if there ever was one.
It's artificially high because the fed keeps printing billions of dollars( QED) and injecting it into the economy. Every time they do this the stock market jumps up.
Don't be foolish enough to believe those stock prices aren't a huge shell game.
Many are unemployed, and lots who are working are part time.
A good reason way more than in history are on assistance.

We are talking about spendable income...
With virtually everything costing more from electricity, food, fuel, rent there are simply fewer available $ to spend on luxury items.....
Actually thats one of the reasons for the Mac $ value menu does well....

Just my $0.05...

Yea... Count me in the camp of not believing inflation is running at less than 1% a year.
I know everything I buy goes up more than a penny on the dollars year.
Heck, 10 wings at MccDonalds are 9.99... What a joke

Why do I need to watch it on tv when I can check here for the results hours before its broadcast.

I just had to laugh at the "payment plan" option they are giving us. As bad as I want to go and show my support for having a track here - I think their outrageous pricing might make me change my mine.

Have to agree with Cudadoug. I use to watch all the time. Now I very seldom open a Nation Dragster anymore. We went to a national event (to race) and walked through the T/F and F/C pits and couldn't care less about seeing anyone. Don't know what happened. Is it the outrageous prices, same teams in the finals, racing 1,000' instead of quarter mile or just plane boring. I can't really put my finger on any one reason as to the loss of appeal. Maybe it's the bitter taste of NHRA greed and not giving a $hit about sportsman racing.
