Brake fluid works great for stripping the paint and won't harm the plastic.

Be careful with oven cleaner, it melts most paint but will also melt the plastic if left on too long

Working on restoring an A body Rally Dash bezel that someone has already painted once. Curious what others have used to strip off paint from plastic without melting the plastic. Seem to recall modelers using brake fluid to strip paint from car models. No idea what type of paint was used on this bezel - enamel, lacquer, etc.
I re-did the plastic bezel for the heater and a/c controls on my Challenger. I used Testors brush cleaner to clean the old paint off, and Testors white model paint to re-do the letters. The brush cleaner worked great, with no harm to the plastic.
