Hello, I want to switch from Mech to electric electric FP and relay.. I have this pump already, I have never used it. Its for a 410 CID sb, it has a 770 carb header ect.. The car will see some track, but mostly a driver.. Will this Pump in your opinion be enough? I am looking for reliability as well. I have no real world exp with electric pumps but I used a parts house replacement mech "airtex brand same as yours" pump (class rules) on a circle track 360 2bbl 9:1 engine & had no starvation at 6400 at WOT at the end of the straights & that was with 5/16" line same as you. For a shutoff you could use one of the aftermarket oil psi senders with the 3 male terminals that would shut off the power to it when the oil psi drops to 15 psi (some have a different cutoff psi) and you would want a manual on/off switch to the relay so you can prime the carbs before you start the eng. You could wire it to the ign1 (run) circuit with a seperate momentary contact switch to prime the carb as needed. Not sure how efficient elec pumps are (compared to mechanical ones) but you might want to use a 3/8" pump/3/8" lines
live every 24 hour block of time like it's your last day on earth

You will need a regulator to get the pressure down to a useable level. Most carbs dont like anything over 5 PSI. Id put a inertia switch on it like the Fords use. My cheap parts house pump keeps up with my 340-6 with no problems.
I am truckless..

Thanks
If you use the Society of Automotive Engr. standards of 1/2 lb. of fuel per HP per hour( at a steady state, not accelerating) that pump, standing still, will support 360 HP at WOT revved up Not good enough for me for your application If your going to buy a electric fuel pump for the first time you need to know that most electric pumps push fuel a lot better than they suck fuel so the electric pump should be mounted behind and lower than the fuel pickup in the fuel tank You have a built or bought stroker motor already, what are you going to due to the car next to hop it up more later Buy the biggest pump you can imagine ever needing now, not later I have been building and racing Mopars for a long time, I have made the mistake, more than once of having to buy the same type of parts more than once because I skimped on the initial buy instead of buying the best part of that type originally Not very wise in my opinion now based on looking back many times Look at buying a Holley black pump, 160 GPH ot maybe, if your not thinking or planning on ever hopping the motor up more later, buying the Mallory 140 GPH kit with the matching regulator I bought a Magnafuel 275 pump and 4 port regulator for my last pump gas street car based on Magnafuel telling me that it (that pump) would support 750 HP max. I built a 400 stroker motor with a set of mildly ported big valve 906 (stock 1968 to 1970 OEM BB) heads, I put a 6 pak on it with stock type OEM vacume carbs. I hope the motor would make between 550 to 565 HP, it made 612 HP at 5600 RPM to start with That motor felt so good I had to step on it some more to make the combination better later, correct Long story short I should have bought the Magnafuel 500 pump to start with to allow for growth instead of buying the 275 pump and having to replace it with a 300 pump 3 yrs later due to me outgrowing the 275 pump IHTHs BTW, the last pump gas SB Mopar street motor(418 C.I.) I built for a freind made 525 HP on CA pump swill with a set of midly ported W2 heads, 9.25 to 1 compression ratio on a DTS engine dyno, he ended up redoing his fuel system twice because he decided later to make his pump gas street car run in the nines, he ended up doing that by adding a 300 HP NOS sytem to reach his goal. Originally he wanted to run in the low 11s on the motor, which it did
Mr.Cab Racing and winning with Mopars since 1964. (Old F--t, Huh)

If it matters, I feed my 499" with a Dominator with a mech fuel pump. Occasionally at the track on a warm evening, I would get a little starvation at the big end. So I put a Holley black above the rear axle on a manual switch under the dash. That helped, but I still got the occasional starve on the big end. Long story short, after a lot of flow testing into a gallon milk jug, I ended up with a larger fuel line from the tank to the engine, reamed out the smallest ID fittings and fitted a micro switch on the carb's secondaries to actuate the electric pump. That's been several years ago. Now, I do not have any starvation problems, do not have to listen to an electric pump running and have a built-in buck-up system.
Master, again and still
