In my opinion if a replacement harness is available and you haven't made a lot of additions to your electrical accessories, the replacement harness is the way to go. I helped a friend wire a street rod with harness kit. I don't remember the brand but although every wire was labeled they were all black. It was very confusing at times. Plus we ended up with lots of wires we didn't need or use. The newer painless kits with multicolored wire may be a much different story.

What TM62's said, rewiring with all the same colors is just crazy & imagine what it will be like later on down the line when you have to trace a circuit. When I did my 65 from scratch it was time consuming (especially the under dash harness) but worth it when I was done for the experience & to get it right with larger wires. You want the SAME colors/colors with tracer colors that are in there now (assuming OE). NAPA has Packard 56 type 1/4" brass male/female terminals but they are pricey & could likely be obtained somewhere else cheaper. Be sure & label the ends when taking out your old harness & take notes on locations/positions as needed (trust me on that one)

Those are M&H. I rewired my Cuda with those. Good quality and "plug and play." Very little thinking required which works well for me. YO has a coupon nearly every week to make the price a little less painful.

american autowire. i used the highway 22 kit for my dart. was easily adaptable to my car.

you will have to rebuild and reuse some stock connectors like for the wipers and a few other things. i changed my turn signal plug over to the GM style and put a standard ign switch connector on instead of using the stock mopar style.

few diagrams that may help you.
