I see summit has a tci bellhousing to adapt a big block to a 700r4 trans. Has anyone ever set a car up with one of these? The 65 new yorker is running good, but could use a little help in the milage dept.

Can't cut tbe floor. You ever see the bottom of a 65 Chrysler? Doesn't look anything like the Challenger. Would love to use the 518 if it would fit ok. Looking for the simplest way to overdrive the car without selling a kidney. I considered the gear vendor unit when I built the challenger but decided against it. Why add weight with an old tranny when you can just use a newer style trans without the added weight. Besides, I already have a 700r4 sitting on a shelf in the back of the shop.

I think you are on the right track with the GM trans and I hate to say it. I had been planning to put a 518 in my truck, but after tonight's MU meeting and the discussion with Pat Blais, I think I will stick with the 727 and go with taller tires to get the same effect at less cost

As long as it is prepped for the type of duty you will give it (weight/power), should be fine. 700r4 is weak from the factory but I think the aftermarket units use performance parts in all the critical areas
