Just wondering if the camshafts, pushrods, and lifters between the LA 3.9 V6 (Pre-Magnum) and 3.9L Magnum can be swapped? Just brainstorming at the moment and thought of at some point replacing TBI camshaft setup with the Magnum one.

is the LA 3.9 a roller cam block? if so, I see no issue on swapping them. I don't know anyone that's done it, but I would imagine it's a bolt on swap.

...are the specs different enough on the Magnum to justify though? I know several Dakota guys who have had cams re-ground by delta cams for just over $100. They have several thousand miles on their reground cams and no issues.

might be a cheap way to get some more oomph for the tiny V6.

Or Bullet cams for $125. Bullet has a huge list of hydraulic roller grinds, including several 209 degrees @50 and smaller.

some years of LA had an extension on the cam to drive a mechanical fuel pump

Magnum 3.9 V6 cam timing
(250 degrees advertised intake duration with 31 degrees overlap)

http://dodgeram.org/tech/gas/specs/3_9v6.htm

the airflow capability of the Magnum intake port is significantly higher, around 30 cfm

Thank you. Yes, it is a roller cam engine and has an electric fuel pump. I believe all 3.9s are roller cam but, the 87 still had a carburetor so it used a mechanical fuel pump. Anyways, I figure I would ask because at some point I will do a timing chain and tensioner so I have thought about the V6 Magnum camshaft since I can get one cheap but, we'll see.
