State of Confusion
A friend of mine has a chance to buy a 91 Ram250 4X4 CTD truck with just over 130K with the manual 5 speed from his work. It has been used as a lot truck to move campers around in the lot, and for local service calls.

The shifter handle (as in the stick itself) has been broken off. What exactly holds this in place? A couple machine screws? Jam nut? How does he replace it, can it be done from the cab, or fairly easy under the truck without separating the trans?

I thinking it cant be that hard, but if there selling the truck for $600 it might be more involved than I thought.

But any CTD with low miles, and the dana 60 front is well worth the $600 ...

It depends on where the stick is broken off, the stick threads onto a stub shaft in the transmission cover. The stick just threads onto the stub.

If the stub shaft is broken off it can be removed from the cover by pushing downward on the retainer and turning it counterclockwise.
