I bought a roll of houndstooth trunk mat from Legendary (made by REM) to replace the crummy fitting rubber mat that I've had for a while in my '68 Coronet. The cut-outs on the replacement mats for the rear support brackets and the wheel well seams are off by a couple inches. I plan to cut my own mat.

How far forward did the original mats extend? Is the jack mast and ratchet assembly supposed to rattle against the trunk floor as pictured? The wing nut is tight, but it can still move around. It seems like it could lay against the rubber mat if it went far enough forward.
Thanks for your input.

Thanks 68 Sat that'd be great! My main question is how far forward does it extend? Does it go up the axle hump, or does it stop at the base of the hump? On the sides I imagine it stops at or near the edge of the drop off. At the tail panel, how far past the vertical brackets does it go? If it happens to already be out of the car, measurements would be helpful. Otherwise I can lay my mat in the trunk, mark and trim it. Thanks for your help!

The original mat for the car was pretty torn up, but I saved pieces of the hounds tooth pattern.
