Hello all,

I bought a used Holley 750 DP main body, and before I assemble it, I want to make sure it is clean.

I am imagining that I would want to completely submerse it in some kind of cleaner, and then blow out the passages with compressed air.

1) Is that the right thing to do?
2) What cleaner would you recommend?

Thanks.

Greg

call your parts house & see what they want for a small bucket of carb cleaner. These have a dip basket & might not be large enough to take the whole carb but probably a main body. I'd soak it for a couple of days & every time you can pick it up & slosh it to help get the soup into the small passages. Rinse it with solvent in your parts washer then blow it out well & I've even used steaming hot water which actually seemed to do better than solvent(for the rinsing). Make sure all traces of gasket material are gone.

they have carb and parts cleaner in a gallon can at a parts store

I get 2 of them,a large enuff metal bucket to put the carb in and fill with the cleaner till it covers it,lets soak for 1/2 to 1 hour then rinse with water, use and air gun to blow it all out

then soak and clean the small parts and put it back to gether

on that holley just dont scap the metal with a blade it does not take much to mess one of the gasket surfaces up

and remember which way the plates and gaskets go
