those were loss leaders...something to get you into the dealership. don't see many, but that one has the 4spd which was an option...the unusual strippy ones would have the 3 on the tree...

Never heard of the 3 on the tree in any 72-87 Powerwagon or Ramcharger. I've only heard of the 4spd and not any autos yet. Id consider them borderline rare. This would be the 5th one I've heard of. Im planning a trail rig build with a slant and 4spd.

The 3 speed on the tree was the base transmission 4wd and 2wd up to maybe 79 or 80. They were not common as most people would pass on buying a rig equipped with it. I believe it was only with the 6 cyl. and 318 8 cyl..

I know they were in 2wd I had a 79. Did they share the 11" clutch with the Np435 aswell as bolt pattern? I've just Never heard or seen them in a 4wd version
I am not sure on the bell pattern or clutch but I am pretty sure they all are different. I remember several one 75 w100 and a 78 or 79 w100 both 318 with 3 on the tree.

6 cyl power wagons with the 3 speed were pretty common for the game wardons. Of course probably not a lot of them survived.

I have a buddy with a Ramcharger that was originally a 318/3 speed.
Not sure why anyone would want one.
I know a farmer who bought a '77 3/4t P/W with a Slant and a 4 speed. I thought he would hate it because it would be an underpowered pig.
He loved it. He used it to pull 2 350 bushel wagons out of the field at a time. I was amazed.

That truck has more of a story. 20,000 miles no way. Buyer beware.

I actually have zero problem believing the mileage for this truck.....it's in extremely good condition for it's age IMO....

I'd love to have it. My first new vehicle was a '74 PW, sb, 318 w/ 3 on the tree, PS &B, and nothing else, not even a radio. $3500 out the door. Tim

Friend of mine once bought a clean 81 W150 shortbed powerwagon with a 225 and 3 speed. It was on the floor, but I think it was originally a column shift. He yanked it and put in a 360/auto.

My early 72 was 318 3 on the tree. Converted it to floor shift. Then 318 with a833od. Now its going to be a 360 a833od.
The 3 on the tree is just plain worn out in my truck. If I could rebuild or find a decent column, I'd go back. Got many interesting looks shifting the truck on the column, pushing the clutch pedal haha. Definitely a rare bird for sure.
