Hello I am looking for a dash speaker for my 70 Roadrunner. I will have the factory am radio so what I have found is that I need a 4x10 8 ohm speaker. Here is my question I found one that is listed as 4-8 ohm and am concerned that this will be a problem as what I have read is if you use a 4 ohm it will eventualy burn up the radio. So will a 4-8 ohm be ok? If not anyone have any leads to a 8 ohm 4x10 oval speaker I dont care if it is an original style speaker as it will not be seen ?
Thanks!
Dave

You can look at the parts offered online, but you have to call to order. I have the original AM radio in mine too, and the speaker was toast. I got the 4' x 10" slimline oval. He asked if it was the original radio and soldered the correct ends onto the speaker so the original harness plugged right in. He was great to deal with. It is 8-10 ohms.

OK, just looking for car audio stuff in my catalog from www.parts-express.com & looking at the 4 ohm stuff. (I need a pair of front door round speakers for my wife's 300).

Pyle has a 4x10 oval Triaxial. Part# 267-731. $33.99 for a pair. *This is the only 4x10 listed in their line - at least in their paper catalog.

OK - just went online - they have 4 to choose from: http://www.parts-express.com/cat/dash-door-deck-car-speakers/390?kg=25422|4130

Personally, I would use these before using something "old." That being said, they might need to be small profile & these more modern speakers might be too large on the back side to fit. They have much larger magnets than the old OE speakers.

BTW - Parts Express is a GREAT place to do business with. I get all my home & project speaker components from them.

I recomend turnswitch.com to all my radio customers .
You will get the correct ohm speaker , correct size magnet etc.
They offer reproduction speakers for most all 60's-70's applications.
