I have air shocks on the rear of my 68 Charger, we tried to put some air in them but they are not going higher, just heard a bit of creaking but nothing else, any idea where to start looking for the problem ? Thanks

Bad rubber bellows, bad air line. You need to stick your head under the car and listen for air leaks while someone tries to air up the shocks. Maybe they are up all the way already.

Start by replacing them. They are shot I'm sure, rotted out rubber.

Get some regular shocks and forget about air shocks.

Get rid of them, the upper shock mount structure below the trunk floor was not designed to hold the car up, which is what your doing.

X2. If you want a higher lift on the rear, change the springs - don't jack it up with air shocks. The ride with them sucks too. I pulled them off of my Coronet and the ride is 1000x smoother.

leak should be easy to find.unless its internal in the shock itself.air shocks always seem to get a good bashing around here.but not every one has money for new springs and shocks laying around.

New rear shocks for my Coronet were $25 ea. Not a large investment. They are Monroe shocks. The KYBs are $75 each!

New shocks are less money than air shocks which can damage your car.

My local spring shop charges $100 to add a full leaf to a set of rear springs. That usually increases height by ~1" along with spring rate. That's a lot easier on the car than air shocks as several have posted.

Easy way to find the leak is to get a squirt bottle of water with some dish washing soap, air up the shocks and spray away.

i agree, but if he using them to lift the rear for tire clearance.shocks alone will not help, and will need new springs as well.not to mention the ride with air shocks suck

Except to "firm" up your suspension, the use of air shocks means you have the wrong wheels and tires, your springs are either worn out or damaged... Just my 2 cents...
