What kinda weather makes "good air"? It has to do with barometric pressure and humidity? I know cooler air is better. Just wondering what to look for to get good air.

Instrument Stanard Atomsphere is at mean sea level(halfway between low and high tides)with 59F temps with 29.92 barometric pressure and no humidity. High temps spread the air molicules out, high humidity spreads the air molicules out, low barometric pressure allows the air molicules to spread out(due to lack of pressure) so any weather that has less than standard conditions is considered bad Any time the weather has higher B.P. and low temps and low humidity is good Low B.P., high temps (above 80 F) and high humidity, above 45%, is bad IHTHs If you don't have any weather gear buy a good all in one hand held weather unit like a Performaire or evem the Cheaper Kestel units I use to carry a non sensitive altimeter and and temp. and humidity gauge in the race car trailer, kept out of the sun I would log the weather immediatily after each run and after a while I could see the trends and dial the car fairly accurate, within .01 and .03 IHTHs

Go to AirDensityOnline.com and look for the track that you are at,if it is on their list it will tell the density altitude. The lower the number is the better the air.

1.33 60 ft,6.21 at 110.59 in the 1/8, pump gas small block,2950lbs,drag radials,mufflers and driven to track ...

This is another good website:

http://www.dragtimes.com/da-density-altitude-calculator.php

It's more for after the fact, to find out what the DA was when you were running. There's also a great free smartphone app called Drag Racing Workbench that shows what the DA is at your track in real time:

Today was a good airday @ Byron IL!!

Since I burn E 85, dry air is more important than temp/DA. The BP was high 29.65" on my weather station, temp 64* humidity 37%.

1st run 9.152, as the air got drier (even though temps went up) the Barracuda went quicker. 9.142, then temp went down and drier air = 9.137
Alcohol LOVES dry air
