If you don't have the dates out yet you are behind. Michael Beard is promoting a race in May in Columbus for current Stock and Superstock racers and it will probably have 300 cars and 3000 spectators, but the race has been promoted since November of 2102 for a race in May of 2014. The problem is getting the word out is easier than ever but some promoters just miss the boat. There is no reason your idea cant work but up the year to 75, focus on a solid car show backing for spectators and the racers will follow.
This is the key in my opinion. The car clubs will provide the spectators if they have a reason to come. Offer a car club challenge. Give say $500-1000 to the club that wins the most points. They earn points by show car entries, swap meet entries, race car entries and if you wanted members through the gate.
Will it be a little difficult to keep track of their points? Yes, but they will bring $ through the gate.
There are 5 clubs within 4 hrs of my local track. They have an average of 50 members. This is a rural midwestern area. Think farm country. I could fore seeing this putting 200 total cars at a race track in this area. It will take effort. I have approached one of the local clubs in the past about hosting the carshow section. At the Mopar race the local track has in the spring. they were willing to do that. By getting a club to host the show a each track that takes a load off the promoter. Most of these clubs hold some sort of monthly event anyway. It is just a matter of letting them know when you want to have yours. And working with them on the details. JMO Jim

This would be mainly a all mopar race weekend with the exception of an all brand NSS class limited to cars built before 1973.
So the addition of the uglier bumperettes on my '73 Challenger vs. a '72's smaller bumperettes disqualifies my ride, despite all else being the same car?

And already we "may" have a rule change request and the event is just in the talk stages. Keep the changes coming and it's back to bracket racing
Sounds like something I may be interested in but I will be one of those that will go to a 1/4 mile race before an 1/8 mile race. But if I'm not doing anything that weekend then
