I can't remember aren't the 63 and 64 hood the same? I have 3 perfect 64 hoods.

Kinda cool hood for sale post too? I'll go ahead and myself so no one else has to. I'm sure this is wrong on so many levels. Ron fiberglass is probably the way to go...

cut the hood and use the $$ saved to buy a quality scoop.

You would also need to locate a short hood spear and fill the holes on your hood (or some just shorten the stock one.)

I faced the same decision with my hood. I waited until I found a clean, stock replacement in the event I had regrets ( to date, I don't). I've tried the fg hoods and they don't seem to fit real well. Lot of good comments both pro and con on this topic. Also, my engine is happier with the set-up I now have and I like the way it turned out. And I would not butcher your chrome center spear, there is surely a way around that.

I would never cut a good hood again. I would buy the best quality bolt on fiberglass hood for those days (months), you want to have a more nostalgic race car look. Get a spare set of hinges with the light springs so the swap is quick and painless. Storing the spare hood properly may be the only dilema.

That's what I'm doing with my Challenger. The fiberglass molded in six pack scoop goes on when the car gets loaded with one of the bullet motors that actually needs the extra hood clearance.

My car will mainly see street duty as much as possible, so a common sense pump gas torque motor is the preference; but when the digger gets sold, the race engines will have to be used from time to time when the urge to race for a few consecutive months overwehlms me.

You have a very, very nice car, just as it is. Keeping it that way has a lot of merit and value.
The way I see it is like this: a lot of guys want to be with a [Edited by Moparts - Keep it clean] for a few hours, but how many can be married to her. You have a nice girl, with nice attributes, as I have read in many of your posts.

Too many cars, too many parts, too little coin, too little space to work in, too little time left to make it all happen! Update: down to one ride, still too many parts, a little more jingle in the pocket, gaining space, and it's going to happen this year!

I would keep the stock hood the way it is and
change over to a different hood for the scoop.
Fiberglass or steel whatever use a different
hood!!!

And, yes I agree on changing the front wheels
to something like a Torque Thrust D or something
close to it. Wheels make the car!!!

Snap your neck, mega G-force launch, is all I want!

I'm going to vote for find a glass hood also.

My reasoning is, I had a spare, and cut it. I've never, gone back, but have thought about it, so I am glad I kept a good flat hood.

....BUT the reason I'm saying go glass, is the obvious weight thing, and I don't think I've ever seen a really top notch job of putting a scoop on. The all in one hoods are the better way to go IMHO. My scoop was built by a pretty reputable guy, and it has been a bit of a pita as far as cracks etc..

If I could do it again, I'd go with a glass hood.

Get a fiberglass one and sell the one that you have.

First this is not a hood for sale or hood wanted add so lets get that straight.
Second is that I will never sell the car because it is the Mopar I have always wanted. It will go to my kids when I die. I will look into the price of a glass hood but I want a street glass hood that is strong enough for street driving. I appreciate all the replies as I am sure they will help me decide. Ron

Yeah the chrome spear is the only piece I would remove/store. Cut the stock hood but locate a different spear to cut. That way if for whatever reason you do want to go back some day, you'll probably be able to find a decent hood, but finding a minty spear may not be as easy.
