once upon a time i bought a "lot" of parts, well included was a dash pad for a 73 cuda with the vin tag still attached, how can i possibly locate the car and owner if it has survived? i would rather not post the vin number, so if you know of anybody with a 73 looking for this item, let me know. thanks frank, contact fswillys@earthlink.net

Without posting the VIN or at least a partial VIN you will get nowhere.

Can you go to the DMV and have them do a VIN search? I don't know if they would do that or not but it would be worth a try. I have a broadcast sheet for a 73 Cuda that I found in my Challenger. I want to know if the car is still around. If the DMV would do a search, I think that would be your best bet.

If the VIN tag was left with the dash, my guess would be that the car was scrapped.

Not to derail the thread, but if you want to put your vin on a good (not hacked up) dash, are the little six-sided rivets available? Will a guy end up with black helicopters flying over his garage? Will he find true love in prison?

Enquiring minds want to know...

Seriously, I was just talking about this with someone the other day; had no idea how to proceed with this on a car that had had its dash HACKED.

Seduce the attractive, and charm the rest. ****** 489 C.I.D., roller cam, aftermarket heads, tunnel ram, stock '54 Dodge rear axle assembly: which of these doesn't belong?

At least post the vin with the last 3 digits as ***. That leaves 999 possible combinations so I wouldn't be too concerned about security.

Go to the lost and found section of this board and post it there.

Good Luck

IIRC, E-bodies, VIN tag was attached to the dash pad, and not the dash frame.

I knew a guy in High School 25 years ago, he and his brother swapped dash pads in a E-body B'cuda so he could get a clear title... , so it happens!
