msd 6al run's while cranking #151074

I put msd 6al along with msd distributor in an 68 superbee. I'am trying to start car but all it will do is run while cranking let off the key car die's.PLEASE CAN ANYONE HELP.

I would bet that you don't have power to the small red wire when the key is on, only in crank.

Yes, you have it wired improperly.

Mopars have one ignition wire that is hot while the key is in the "start" postion, but cold in the "run" postion.

There is another wire in the same harness that behaves exactly the opposite--cold in "start" but hot in "run".

You need to find both leads and run them both to the small red wire on the 6AL. That way, it will be energized both in "start" and "run".

(P.S. Also, you can do away with your ballast resistor--you don't need it with the MSD)

THANK YOU for your advice it's what I was hoping it would be. Tomorrow is another day I will look for the other wire any idea where to look first is it up where the ballest resister use to be. THANK YOU
