I am getting ready to use some plastigauge in determining how much clearance I have at the main and rod journals.

What parameter of clearance would be good for the mains and what would be good for the rods?

These should always be checked dry correct?

This is for a standard bearing size 4.25 stroke RB crank

We never to go over .002 on either the rods or mains. Never had a problem with those clearances on the engines we run on the street or strip.

yes both bearing halves/journal dry & be careful when you set the crank down that you dont rotate it & I always grab a helper to eyeball things underneath so the crank goes down where it's supposed to & doesn't get nicked.

.002-.0025 on mains, .0025-.003 on rods. I have gone tighter before... I never go bigger.

Well, art is art, isn't it? Still, on the other hand, water is water! And east is east and west is west and if you take cranberries and stew them like applesauce they taste much more like prunes than rhubarb does. Now, uh... Now you tell me what you know.
