So I accidentally bought a 3497272 BB Bellhousing on Ebay for my 440 E-Body project and I am wondering if anyone has made these work? From what I can tell, it is all wrong as it was made for a 12" clutch and 143 tooth flywheel. I am pretty desperate for a bell housing and pulled the trigger on this one before reading up on it. Can I make this thing work?

It does not even have the A833 bolt pattern. It can only be used with the long fork, E body uses the short fork. Then there is also the issue of the ballstud location, and the 5.125" retainer bore. Sorry, no way to make it work.

Thank you for the reply. I will blast and clean it and put a coat of paint and try my luck at selling it. I only paid $160 so I think I will get my money back in time.

ANYONE know where I could find a deal on a BB bellhousing that will work?

(Brewers has been great to me on the parts I have bought by the way. I love you guys and I appreciate the response)

10.5" will be the best fit and you have lots of clutch/flywheel options. Keep in mind that we have a new bell available for $300. So when your looking at used bells check for stripped holes or cracks you don't see until its cleaned. Dowel holes can be a problem on aluminum bells also.
