Has anyone ever tried to put one in a 1971 B-body to the right of the speedo?

It won't fit. You should just use a correct 71 B body tach. If you also need to know the time, just wear a watch.
It sure beats trying to hack something together that was never meant to be.

I'm not really interested in the time, but I am interested in "the look".

In teh past Charger Specialties had them available for 3rd gens... of course was an aftermarket stuff since they never did exist, but was made for a perfect fir oin to the cluster, like on 2nd gens. Does look not too much demand for them so not anymore available
