I am going to add a header evac system to my motor since it is building a lot of pressure when I run the car at the track. My question is when I run exhaust on the street can I just remove the hoses? Will the check valves keep any exhaust from leaking or do I need to pull the check valves and cap the tubes?
Also has anyone noticed a significant gain in horsepower or ET by adding this system to there motor?
Thanks,

If your exhaust has greater than 5"hg back pressure
then you need to pull the check valves otherwise your
just gonna burn them out and you have a exhaust leak

Do you know what I can use to plug them? My exhaust is very restrictive.

Depending if its a male or female thread.. but its
just pipe thread.. so a pipe cap or pipe plug(most
have a male thread so you use a cap)

Be carefull where you place the pipe in the exh as any back pressure will blow back into the engine.I had mine at an elbow and at idle it back flowed to the engine.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one! After I found mine pressurizing the crankcase, I just capped them with a pipe cap.

Put the evac connection just behind the muffler, not in the collector before the muffler.

Mine are in the collectorabout an inch from the flange. I drive mine on the street w/ no issues. I have 2" super comps and a summit 3" system. Might help that my mufflers are straight thru design. As for how much et??? not sure I haven't run it w/o.

I've had no luck running them any kind of exhaust and I tried at one point. Even with open exhaust they are marginal at best. There will be no power gain. The power gain comes from using a vacuum pump and real light oil control rings. You cannot do this with exhaust evacs. I know I will get a dissenting opinion but that's my experience.
