I just bought a 91 Dakota with a 318
2 wheel drive,standard cab.
today a required maintenance light came on.
I am assuming it means time for an oil change
or something of that nature.
How do I know what maintenance is required and
how do I reset the light?

That light was for the emissions.Ma wanted you to at least check like the O2 sensor but really wanted them changed. Some had a switch behind the dash that had to be reset to shut it off.Been a long time since Ive played with one at work.Have to look in AllData to see reset procedure.Rocky

My 89 van has one. Requires a scan tool to reset.

The light is a reminder to check or change the oxygen sensor. It is not indicative that something is wrong. The easist way to permanently disable it is to remove the bulb.

Thanks for the replies guys.
I will look to see if there is a
switch, if not I will get it scanned.
Hmm, maybe just yank the 318 and
install 440 ...
