Loaded question. For this I must get out my trusty crystal ball............ Oh crap I dropped it and it shattered in a million pieces. Anyone got a spare?
All kidding aside that's a very loaded question. When you say body work is all done. Is that done needing multiple blockings? Done as in final sanded ready to mask off? Was it done with new metal, repaired metal? The jams all smooth & ready to seal, color & clear? Was it done by you( no offense)? Most painters will not be openly willing to paint a car that's been done by someone else unless they can really go over it. I know I tell people that come and say I don't expect it perfect or want a show car or I did the work it's ok for me just shoot it. I tell them it's hard cause people won't ask who did the body work and who painted it just who painted it. I can put on the smoothest cleanest paint job but if the repair work isn't good my work naturally looks bad and the 1st thing people think is I did the work and if someone is saying the work looks bad most people aren't going to offer yeah I did the body work but they only painted it. Just human nature.
If it all looks good and smooth ready to shoot here is what I'd suggest on materials
Sealer DAS sealers. Come in black, white, gray. They lay down really nice and if a minor nib or even small imperfection is seen you can let it dry out for a half to full hour lightly wet sand(I like using dx330 as sanding lub rather than water as it dries quicker if would get into a jam area.) plus has kinda semi gloss shine to see anything you may not like. Figure complete out side & jams get a gallon plus required amout of hardner & reducer.
Color DBC get a gallon but have it mixed in two seperate gallons with 2 qrts in each can. That way you can add two qrts reducer to each can and have two gallons sprayable. Doing that you will need gallon DT reducer. I'd go with 885 as its a nice all around middle of the road reducer temp range.
Clear I'd get a gallon of 2021 or 2002. Both nice clears for overall use. Will need DCX 61 and DT reducer but for over all I'd probably go with a DT 895 just to give it extra time open and to lay down.
If you don't spend close to 1,000 to 1500 on just top coats that I'd be suprised. Not sure what price code plum crazy is but honestly have seen some blues over 1k my cost on a gallon. Granted those are late model colors that have the expensive pearls in them but even the cheaper codes are 300-500 a gallon most times. I've paid close to 100 bucks for 8 oz of paint before. Its just crazy!
