I found a 1965 Chrysler New Yorker at a local salvage yard with the 8-3/4 on it. I can get the whole assembly for $75. My question is would this be a good rear end to get cut to size to fit on an early 70's Mopar? I know I heard something about the '64 and earlier 8-3/4 rears are different. Also does anyone know the cost to get a rear cut to the right size and have the perches moved? I would be grateful for any help. I'm trying to fit an 8-3/4 in my '72 Scamp. Thank you!

The '65 C-body axles won't be long enough to cut/respline for an A-body.

Also where would you recommend getting a good set of axle shafts? I saw some for A bodies on the classic industries website that looked pretty good?

I had a local Hi po automotive machine shop in SO CA do the narrowing on the 8 3/4 originally . I did not have it back braced and I ended up twisting that rear end housing up so bad it became unuseable I ended up having Dutchmen rear ends in Portland, OR narrow and change the ends on a Dana 60 for my Duster, no more issues with the rear end after that I bought my 35 spline axles from Strange Engr speciality built to fit that housing for the stock A body 8 3/4 brakes and stock drums I ended up reusing them(brakes , drums and axles) in the Dana, I had to take around 3/4 inch off the passenger side axles to make it work in the Dana 60 housing, I used Strange Engr 35 spline steel spools in both rear ends I'm getting ready to do another Dana 60(3/4 ton truck rear end cut down and narrowed) for my next project, 1966 Dodge Coronet Custom two door sedan with a 440 and a NP 833 O.D. stick shift trans.
