I just picked up a BB 727 from a motor home with a short tailshaft. I have a BB and SB 727 and each has the long tailshaft. Is it possible to remove the short tailshaft and install the longer tailshaft and output shaft from either the BB or SB trans ?
Thanks.

Yes, However not all output shafts are the same. You may need to swap the gear sets along with the output shaft.

As far as the shafts and tail housing are concerned, they are interchangable between the big and small blocks.

On CRT's website John has a really good article on output shafts and pics of there differences.

If you can't find it I can link it when I get home

EITHER the SB or BB tailshaft will work in your MH trans ... but you MUST use the output shaft from the standard long-shaft trans too.

As stated, all of the standard length tailhousings will interchange but if the car is equipped with a factory console shift the tailhousing needs to have the boss on the bottom for the linkage support bracket; some year truck housings won't have the boss.
