I am getting ready to do a cam swap. Hydraulic 509 for a lunati hydraulic. I am just wondering what the preferred break in oil would be? I was just going to use VR1 but lunati said I could use a standard 30 weight non detergent motor oil with one bottle of their break in additive to save some money. Then I have a family member telling me they use Diesel engine oil. What do you think?

I use the Valvoline VR1 racing oil 20W/50 and I add a bottle of zinc additive. Broke in the solid flat tappet in my 493 in 2011 with no problems at all and I still use the Valvoline VR1 and a bottle of additive every oil cange. In fact I have never wiped a cam lobe. Ron
