Stock 1966 Mopar. Do you think if I hang or remove the K member I will be able to swap it out? I really don't want to raise the car up.

What block do you have MP or World ? World blocks have an adapter that bolts in so no K removal would be required.

But if you pull the K you shouldn't have any issue unscrewing the pickup.

If you use the stock 1966 to 1969 street Hemi oil pan no problem on R&R the pan and piclup in the car. The extended pickup should unscrew also If your talking about a stock 361,383 and 440 oil pan, #402, it won't fit in the 1965 and earlier B bodys with the stock K frames,I don't think The stock Hemi do and the wedges don't You will have to drop the center link and remove it from either the pitman arm or the idler arm to swing it out of the way

The only Problem is the Pan that is on there now is a deep sump, "over 7 inches " and has the correct Pick up for that pan.
The question is will I be able to spin that pick up off and then use something like the 5qt 971 pan in its place.
IM pretty sure the MP pan I have is the 971 with added sump depth.
It certainly looks the same with the exception of the additional 2 or so inches in sump depth.

You've got the chance to make it a streetable car now. Sadly, if you built that engine correctly with a pickup hanging down to the bottom of the pan the engine will need to come out to swap the pick up tube for a shallower unit.

How many people do you know that would build a motor and install the wrong pickup?

As long as the person working on it enjoys an oil bath, both the pan and pickup can be changed with the engine still in the car. Since the pan is scrap it's really no problem to jam a pipe wrench or chain wrench on the pickup tube, cut or mangle it if needed to unscrew it and scrap it right along with the pan.

The real question is why bother??? I say pull it and avoid the mess, and be comfortable working on it rather than swimming in oil for both the pan and pickup!

Just remember that you will need a new 1/2 inch pickup. Most with stock pans are 3/8.A hemi pan should have a 1/2 inch.Rocky

Good people make honest mistakes all the time.

Lots of gearheads get all wound up about the hard parts of the engine and miss the stuff that doesn't move around.

The pan he wants to switch to probably uses the same pickup that is there now ....

Sure it will. It's a max wedge pan. Better carry your check book of you find one.

Getting old just means you were smarter than some and luckier than others.

Are you certain?
I have the Schumacher mounts on my car and it is not listed in their add.
If it will I found a Milidon pan that is a Max wedge Replacement.
Pretty Cheap to!

No you won't, there isn't one.

Milodon makes those deeps sump pans or the road race pan that will require you to modify the K frame .

6qt hemi pan , pull the K frame and nothch it for pan clearance and add a skidplate from a 67-69 hemi car.

That is Milodons version of the 70-71 hemi pan.

It should be at minimum flush with the bottom of the K , that's with stock mounts , your mounts ?

And it still won't fit the 62/65 K frame unless it's cut.

I measure the pan and its around 15" from the back of the pan to the front of the sump.
The Guy at Schumacher said he had not tried the 30761 but if the rear of the pan to the front sump clearance is 18 or less it will work in my 65 B Body with their Hemi conversion mounts.
I called Mancini and they pulled one for me so we will see this weekend.
I'll pick it up and try the install and will post results.
If it works out the pan and Pick up with a good Gasket is only $220.00 at Mancini.
Hopefully we will be back on the road this weekend.
