Is it possible to get the clutch only from anyone? I have a Jag clutch behind my Wizard rad but it's not in the shroud enough and a Hayden replacement one is too long. Car cools great while moving but the temps creeps up while idleing for an extended period. Think moving the fan in a bit will help.

I played this game on my Duster a few years ago and found the MP clutch that comes with the fan was perfect length.

I believe the MP fan clutch was selected from a standard late 60's/early 70's slant six offering. Hopefully somebody knows the interchange.

Your other choice is a spacer... preferably the piloted type.

..i read somewhere that clutch fans only operate at about 80%
of crank speed. You are probably not moving enough air when idling.
..a solid fan with more pitch may help,or a hi quality flex fan.

So many guys running clutch fans that I should be able to make this work.

It's a mild built 440 in a 67 Belvedere with a new Wizard cooling 22" aluminum rad with 1.25" tubes.

I have from a rough measurement 3/4" from the rad to the current Jag fan clutch which only puts the fan blades in about 1/4 of the way into the shroud.

Really dont want to listen to a solid fan all the time.

Figure a clutch with 3" total height should fit the bill

Go to Hayden's web site and take a look at their fan clutch specs to find what you need and you can cross reference to most auto parts stores.i had to try a few before I got the right one to fit my bee.

The October 2013 issue of Mopar Collectors Guide on page 18 - 19 shows a new reproduction fan clutch assembly replacement for 2806070 being reproduced by Tony's Parts. (302) 398-0821 or www.tonysparts.com.

If you go that route let us know how it goes.

..an old timers' rule of thumb is to keep the fan an inch from the rad.
..are you sure you want to go closer..there can be some movement?

I have read in the past that for best performance, the blade should not be more than 1/2 way into/ under the shroud.

Not getting enough cooling at idle the car was up to 210 after coming off the highway.

I need to try somthing so moving the fan closer to the rad is my first thought.

Not sure what else to try.

The clutch has 3/4" of room from the face to the rad.

I am looking at clutches 2711 and 2705 but they offer only standard or severe duty. The problem is my fan says for standard clutches only. It looks like the one that Flex-alite and Bouchillon also sell right down to the sticker on it.

What adverse effects would occur if I ran it on a severe duty clutch?

The severe duty clutch may not release when appropriate with a "standard" fan. You may hear the fan spinning when not needed... making noise and burning gas while cruising, for example.

"Why does my car run hot?" is an often asked question of muscle car magazine mechanics. These links are worth a read:

Yes, it is possible, part number 4095704.
There are a few of them on the locator.

Have to mention, though, that it doesn't make sense to buy it because the price is considerably higher than the whole P4120758AB package.

If it doesn't get much hotter than 210 I think its probably fine. Even 220 wouldn't be too bad hot idling as long as it cools down when rolling.

Looking around locally for a 7 blade factory fan right now. With 3/4" clearance running the jag clutch I can afford anything much longer. Does anyone know the pitch of the viscous 5 blade and the stock 7 blade?

Not sure how to measure my hayden fan.
