What's the best quality and fitting scatter shield out there? Do the two even go together? Anyone have one in a 66-67 b-body that fits without hassle?

Don't want to hack my car if i can help it and want something that will hold if all hell comes undone under my feet.

Thanks

Your flywheel size will dictate your choice between Quicktime or Lakewood. Quicktime will only accommodate a 130 tooth wheel.
It's a shame really because all my clutches and flywheels wont fit in a smaller lighter can

I bought the Lakewood because I'v heard to many issues with the quicktime z-bar pivot point. Lakewoods been around a long time and proven. Just my opinon.

Sorry put this in the q&a section since it dropped out of sight so quick here.

Car will have manifolds. Have a 11" clutch/flywheel in stock as well as a 130 tooth flywheel but can go either way. Really just want the best fitting unit that is safe for say a 650 hp Hemi.

Quicktime is getting good reviews in the other section but nobody has used one in a bb b-body an OEM parts.

Thanks

My '68 Hemi RR has a Lakewood. No issues with headers (Hooker) or hacking anything. 172-tooth & stock starter. Did need to dial in the concentricity though.

Manifolds you have to run a 130 tooth wheel if you don't have the stock hemi stuff ... so I am told here on this site when I asked .. starter to manifold clearance issue , may not be able to run a mini starter ???

Smart idea to have the shield. Don't forget to indicate it in when installing. I think it's .005 or .oo6 max runout on the trans opening IIRC. It should come w/ instructions for indicating in. FWIW when I installed my Lakewood, I had to cut off and re-weld the clutch bellcrank mount. That was 30 yrs ago, and hopefully that's changed. They're a pain sometimes, but so is being crippled.

Yeah, it's got a smallblock.

Had no problem fitting the quicktime w/66 belvedere. But there are issues. 1. had to reposition and reform the pivot that come with it. Slotted the holes and bent it so the fork was further on to the throw out bearing. 2. The ball mount for the z-bar is kind oh hokey. I stiffened it up by running a metal support from the top left trans bolt to the ball mount 3. yep, have to use a 130 tooth flywheel, if racing with a sintered iron disk it will be 10 inches 4. if racing with a counter weighted pressure plate then there is very little clearance between the counterweights and the bell. Had to make a .030" spacer between the bell and block plate 5. Had no issues with headers
Lakewood owns quicktime. Do they even offer the Lakewood bell any more?

I have a Lakewood bell and block plate I bought in 03 , I had to drill 4 holes in it to mount it to the dyno for the enginemaster competition. I think I will weld up the holes and keep it if Lakewood doesn't make it anymore

Thanks for the replies. Still not sure which way I want to go but the lakewood sounds as good as any for less $.

Summit shows BB lakewood bells in stock and ready ship tomorrow for $460
