dsp OP member D Joined: May 2005 Posts: 125 Iowa	My 1985 318 has developed a leak around the pipe plug in the right-angle oil filter adapter. Is the purpose of this plug to simply seal the cross-drilling in the adapter, or is a filter bypass valve and spring located behind it? I don't have much room to work in there and I'm wondering if I will have to contend with a spring when I reinstall the plug.

RapidRobert Circle Track R Joined: Nov 2003 Posts: 36,041 Lincoln Nebraska	I'd suggest hitting the tool with a hammer rather than a steady pull which works better for breaking them free & if it's an alum adapter you might heat the plug & melt some wax into the threads if it's REAL tight so as to not potentially crack the alum case live every 24 hour block of time like it's your last day on earth
