I need to see how the radiator fits on the radiator support. The one that is installed on this 440 Airgrabber car has the radiator sitting about 1" away from the support. I think thats going to impact the distance I have mapped out for the fan/clutch assembly. If this is going to be a nightmare, might end up just replacing the radiator altogether and getting the correct fan shroud for the new one...

The one in there now is a 6-bolt radiator...and I can't find a shroud for it...supposedly out of an 80s Dodge Truck.

Just a vertical shot above the radiator support. I wanna see how it truly fits.

Many thanks

I switched to an aluminum "race" radiator, so I can't take a picture, but the brackets are L-shaped and run the length of the radiator, holding it basically right next to the radiator support. It is a pretty tight fit in there

what size radiator, 22 or 26?

you can see pics of a 26 here https://board.moparts.org/ubbthreads/show...e=1&fpart=1
and I can take pics of the 22 in my other car if needed.

You're talking air grabber so I'm guessing you're looking for 71-72 ??? 73 BB started using a different waterpump housing/radiator that moved the outlet and inlet from earlier years...

This was originally a 318 automatic car with a 22" radiator...The last owner decided to spruce it up with a 440, an airgrabber, and a 4speed with a 26" radiator. I'll take a pic tomorrow of what I am working with...it just looks too far from the radiator support..

Nah... worst case just get the Jaguar spec clutch. Search it here on the forum for details.

My Griffin radiator with the high capacity (thick) core sits about an inch off the radiator support. I've probably got 3/4" clearance to the clutch.

Just for reference...how far is the end of the clutch supposed to be from the surface of the radiator? FSM doesn't say distance. I mocked it up today and it looks to be about 1" of air.

Not sure what the spec is, but typically I see 3/4"-1+"

Much closer than 3/4", you risk something bad happening in the event of a failed engine mount. Much more and the thermostat in the clutch will react slower.
