They will work but junk in my opinion, I would use the np241.

I had one in my 78.It was in another Ram that I bought for parts.I plowed and put at least 40K on the setup.Only problem I had was I snapped some bolts in the frt hub once.I plowed and drove it every day fro at least 5 years.Rocky

The 241 doesn't seem to get the respect it deserves. It actually has a better gear ratio than the 205 and will handle nearly the same torque, and horsepower.

If you're strapped for cash, put the part time kit in the 203 and don't look back. Eventually it'll have trouble staying in 4wd and will pop out when you least want it to but it'll work well for awhile provided the t-case is in decent shape to begin with.

I used to run a part time kit in my 79 RC with a 203 full time xfer, worked fine for me for yrs.

i also installed the chainsaver from milemarker, that would let you adjust the slop out of the xfer chain when it got worn and wanted to slip. that saved my old worn 203 for a long time.

I used the milemarker M&M locking hubs with brass dails up front that were trouble free.

The 203 has a different mounting bolt pattern than the 241 (or the 208 and 205's) so you would need to either swap transmissions or at least the tail-shaft with a newer model trans that has the correct bolt pattern.

No they don't. They bolt to any dodge 4wd trans. Pulled a 70s 4wd 727 That bolts to a 203 off of a 241. Bolts rite up

Yes, they do

The 203's use an unique trans adapter, the 241 will require an adapter from a 205, 208, or 241 equipped auto Dodge.

The 727 output for the 203 will be too short for the 241, you'll have to get the right trans output for a 208 or 241 and install it in the 727.

About 1/2 down in this post you can see the difference in the 203 and 208/241/205 bolt pattern and shaft length difference:

Here is an image to show the difference 203 on the left 205 on the right:

Nope. Stock 70s bigblock 4wd trans and Stock 93 Transfercase. Read slowly.
They are BOLTED to EACH other.

Fastback66's garage. And his own garage. Im in thwarting process if swapping in a 518 for him. there's half inch to an inch diff in output shaft length. Otherwise it bolts up.
