Ever since I lowered my 1980 D150, there has been a squeaking noise coming from the rear. I only hear it when the engine is under load or when driving uphill. I don't drive the truck much because it annoys me.

It finally hit me what I think it may be. I'm thinking that the driveshaft is too long for the truck now. I dropped the rear a tad over 6" with the axle flip. Is the driveshaft near the limit of its compression? I've checked the u-joints, shocks, axle u-bolts, and everything else I can think of. Do you think I'm onto something?

I think my pinion angle is fine. I put the new spring perches on the exact opposite side of the axle from the stock ones.

Not sure. I guess I could put a piece of tape on the driveshaft with the wheels on and off the ground.

Rule #1 when lifting or lowering
When you lift you lift the pinion
When you lower you lower the pinion

The U shape pieces (the ones that locate the axle to the spring)that are used in most flip kits are shorter in the front than the back to tilt the pinion downward

I thought I had them here to take a pic of.

I'll look in the daylight & get a pic
