I added an AAR fiberglass reproduction hood from Year One to my 73 Cuda. Looks nice but I have 2 questions.My research shows that Plymouth used standard springs on the standard hinges for this hood. Is this correct? If so then without the traditional hood latch mechanism what is the proper method for raising the hood?
Thanks in advance for any help.

I cant see any way that stock springs could be used with a glass hood. They are to stiff and would break a hood in no time.

I am truckless..

AAR's have soft springs. I can take mine on and off by hand, with no tools. The original springs will still warp the hood in time. The fix from the factory was to remove the springs and use a prop rod. I do that and keep my springs in the trunk to install at shows. Hood pins are all that you use to hold the hood down. AAR fiberglass should sell you the correct springs.

To open the hood without causing any damage;

Pull the hood pins.

Insert either hand palm side down into the scoop.

Grip the inner edge of the hood & lift.

Exactly what I have been doing, sticking my hand inside the scoop and lifting up on the hood. I thought I had been missing something.

Thanks
