maybe this is old news/common knowledge to those who have played with the LA platform for awhile but I'll say it anyways.

I purchased one of these http://chucker54.stores.yahoo.net/mopcasvalcov.html
and two of these http://chucker54.stores.yahoo.net/moprubgrom.html

as they are both advertised for fitting the MP cast valve covers. The package of two does fit but the individual ones (P4529882)
are not tall enough to full seat down into the cover. Side by side the center 'stepped' section is about 1/3 to 1/2 taller on the package of two. Not sure what good the individual ones are unless they are intended for stock production cast magnum covers ?

On a very positive note all of the mopar parts were made in the USA. I bought the 'as cast' cover package since this is going onto a B-van there will be some modding required. On the corner of the box with the label from chrysler to mancini there was the 'NS1' printed on the tag... I guess FIAT is pulling the plug on these.

Got the Moroso blue silicone w/steel shim gaskets and they do indeed fit the covers as well. Tomorrow I'm going to try the dealer since I work just down the street from them and see if the late LA/MP valve cover gaskets are still available and I may order a set or two for the shelf. Bought the moroso parts just prior to find the thread discussing them vs the MP units.

How well do the covers fit the engine? I remember years ago there was some discussion of having to notch the top edge of the cast covers to clear the intake runners from the manifold.

At least that is what is stuck in my head.

As recently as summer of 2011 I had to notch top of the MP valve covers to clear an Eddy Air-Gap. Tried 3 different valve cover gaskets before somebody on MOPARTS told me the problem.

These will require a slight clearancing.

The closed grommet in your first link is designed so that the bottom can be cut out for the 710 cap to fit into it.
You dont need the second 1.. Yes you may need the clearance the upper edge of the covers near the intake runners on some engines..

I am truckless..
