Info please,
weight of engine oil ?
which produces more vacuum - WOT or coast down ?
reason I ask, there is a billet technology catch can, installed between the oil filler and the intake tube. It gets full very quickly, the guy says it is because of the 3:91 gear and lots of 3000 rpm.
Sounds goofy to me, but what do I know ?

Moble 1 oil
0W-40

My vacume gauge shows most vacume under deceleration. At WOT its + 5 psi with the Procharger. But was 0 with out the boost.

Vacuum when the throttle is shut.

Sounds to me like he's got something else going on. Mine is identical to what you described (minus the catch can) and it hasn't lost a drop of oil in 5000 miles.

I asked him if he had looked at a plug ?
I suspect some kinda leakage - but

Maybe I'm way off in left field here.... but I "believe" the hose he's refering to runs from the oil fill to the air filter housing. This would be "upstream" of the throttle body so it would actually be getting "pull" at WOT... correct? Seems to me I saw one at work with an aftermarket restricted filter and the air inlet was full of oil. Engine found that the breather tube was a good alternative for air thus causeing it to pull excessive oil vapor. Also seems to me that they changed this design of later models.

J Body -- after drawing a picture for myself, us old men are handicapped, I see what you are saying. But, why should there be that much oil vapor floating around. I had the same set up on my Aspen, and never saw much oil in the catch can, even after 17,000 miles. He is saying 1/2 full after 3,000

i believe its a pretty well known issue with the HEMIs, otherwise there would not be so many catch cans on the market.

I pulled the intake off of a 2008 SRT8 that had 874 miles on it. I set it down on the ground TB flange down. When I got back the next morning, it was sitting in a significant puddle of oil.

I think they are really hit and miss on ones that use oil vs ones that don't. Clean the catch can, change your oil then check it in 1000 miles. See how much is in there. I had a catch can on mine but I took it off. 3oz of oil in 3-4k miles didn't seem like it was worth it to me. If I raced the car regularly maybe I would care more.

Wait until the car goes into limp mode in the fast lane of the freeway during rush hour because one of those catch can hoses has a pin hole leak in it. I'd rather burn some oil...
