Wondering about things that would make a Sprag fail in 727. I know doing a burnout in first gear will. How about idling into the lights at low rpm when using a starting line enhancer. Had 1 fail and been doing the same procedure for 25 years but now I have a starting line enhancer. This is a transbrake tranny.... What do you guys think?

Ok.. you got me.. whats a starting line enhancer ...
I thought that was a 150 shot.... I think you might
have broke it on the previous run... you start in
2nd in the burn out box so its not applied

starting line enhancer.....since you can have your gas pedal to the floor, and have the Starting Line Enhancer hold the motor at a low preset RPM until after your top bulb goes out, at that point the motor goes up to the 2-step

a spin then hook in 1st gear if you don't have low band apply will eat a sprag. putting the car in neutral at the starting line not giving it enough room to engage will get a sprag.starting line enhancer never heard of it

The easiest way is to pedal it while still in manual
low gear... if you decell it then hit it again...
did you spin in the previous run

I don't see why that would have any effect on the sprag in fact it should be easier on it because you won't hit throttle first then the trans brake.
Trans brake must be on for the throttle to come up.

Check the length of your driveshaft.

the driveshaft length hasn't changes in 18 years so I don't think that's it..

maybe it was just worn out from years of abuse, mechanical things are prone to failure at the most inoportune time.

Motor might be moving to the rear a tad when that trans brake button is released. Do you have a strut rod on the motor to keep it from moving to the rear. Have you changed over to s/s springs lately. When you unbolt the rear u joint, how much does your drive shaft slip into the tranny ?

have motor plate and mid plate and two strut rods so maybe its was just stressed from many trans brake launches
