I have a new 426 cast iron max wedge block Part # P4529851, is this block legal for use in Stock class. It looks like Mopar used a Hemi block casting but drilled the head bolts for a wedge head. Block was listed in 1998 Mopar Performance catalog. I have had it since 2000. Has H 2495 244 on distributor boss and 2468380-M on right side of block. Just looking for information on block.

You would have to ask NHRA or someone who runs a Stock class car. They might be legal even with the cross bolted mains since they have a factory part number and casting number. Not sure if the Stock guys run those blocks or not. It is a lot of extra weight on the nose of the car. Those blocks are super heavy.

I thought Max wedge blocks had a notch in the egde of the cylinders. Is that just on the original blocks?

You must have the valve notches, if you get torn down by a tech that is sharp he will toss you without them Besides if you don't notch the block for the 1.88 exhaust valves they will hit the cylinder walls, even bored to 4.310 (+.060) over

The block does not have the side cross bolt holes drilled as seen in the attached pic, but the bosses for doing so are there and the webbing around the mains is almost twice as thick as my 440 block I have in my 64 Belvedere
