I have a 70 challenger convertible and never had sunvisors. I have the metal rods attached that they go over. My question is how are they attached to the rearview mirror? Does it have tips like a hardtop and if it does is there a rod that the tips attach to?

I need to know what to order?
Thank you

The rearview mirror base is different for ragtops: there should be a moulded rubber base that has a long groove at the back to accommodate the sunvisor tips.

Hardtop visors have a rod that goes all the way through the visor, then the soft tip.

Vert visors are not as wide (front/back) and have a separate, partial rod that goes in the end that latches into the mirror. Those rods use the same rubber sunvisor tips as hardtop.

If I can get my laptop to connect in cottage country, I'll post up some pictures of the vert rods.

Not what you want to hear, but I just leave mine off: They're a bit of a pain when doing/undoing latches and they look kinda weird flipped up there when the top is down.

I don't use 'em at all and the cars have a "cleaner" look without them.

Here are the short visor rods for convertible (note that the sunvisor tips are degraded, and need replacing)

My 71 Challenger vert has much longer rods than that. And yes AFAIK they are original - the visors are the short vert ones and it has the usual centre clip etc..

FWIW these were out of a '70 and it strikes me that they could easily be pushed into the depths of the visor, never to be seen again.

Perhaps for '71 they upgraded to a longer rod which would butt against the pivot rod.
