Rubber hose will work for awhile, but you're flirting with disaster.

If one springs a leak trans fluid spray will ignite just like gas.

You need to buy the rubber hose that is specified for transmission return lines. Your local parts store should have it.
If you don't use the correct rubber, the transmission fluid will seap through the rubber and it will appear to be "sweating" all of the time. This is not good.

I would think some pre-bent for one of the old muscle cars would work. I'd get the regular mild steel so you can coax it into fitting better if you have to. Many newer vehicles have a short section of flexible rubber etc near radiator lately, if you have to make that mod.

just grab a set of stock lines from anything with a 727 or 904 trans and use them, if you need to cut patch them together to get plumbed, then use brass 5/16" comp fittings on the steel lines.

the trans rubber line is more $ but will last longer. but that is way to much rubber hose under there, to much to go wrong and not enuff chaffing resistance with rubber.

you can buy long straight flare nut piece from the auto parts and cut the flare ends off, use comp coupling to piece it together bending as you go.

use a fan pully or tube bend, something round to help bend tight turns in the steeel line with out kinking.

the ridged brand tubing bender is great for bending up steel tubing.

rubber hose...dont do it.

ive never trusted compression fittings.(that's not to say I haven't used them in a pinch). the parts stores carry rolls of steel tubing, and you can get a Chinese flare kit for under $30 from harbor freight. you will be happier, safer and on the road longer if you do it right once instead of wrong over and over.

It may be ugly, but it sure is slow.
