Hey guys I am new to the forum and just wanted to know if a 82-93 dash would bolt up and fit in the 70 style trucks.

I'm pretty sure you could make it work.. Wouldn't think it would be too hard. Wiring could be the hardest part..

I put a 84 dash into a 78 TD. The dash bolted in with no problems.(windshield out) The later srteering colume nneeded some nurseing. I did use the 84 harness.. Remember the 92/93 use electric speedos..

I am truckless..

The 72 to 93 cabs are virtually the same. So yes you can.

Fastback66 installed a 93 dash in his 78 when he did the CTD conversion.

The ONLY thing you really have to deal with is steering column mounting.

That changed in 79

I said no because there is a lot more to it than a simple cluster swap. The complete dash needs to be swapped out. You will need the newer harness for the dash. As I recall the hole for the bulk head mounting is different. You will also need to use or modify the engine and lighting harnesses. The heater boxes are different as well as the steering column. Its do able but it will take a lot of time and some skill. It would be best to have a compete doner truck to do the swap.

ya'll remember Mark Nixon? about 10 years ago when I was living in Waco and he was hauling cars, he was 150 miles or so away when his trailer jack knifed in a storm and crushed his cab. He drove over in a 91-92 Dodge Single Cab cummins truck and we bolted the cab off of a mid 70's truck on it...everything lined up except for the bulkhead connector which had to be modified a bit...but we did the whole swap in 2 days.

Mark was an alright guy, after working with him I realized that he got alot of bad flak from this site because of peoples perception of him. He genuinely was a good guy that I think got caught up in bad deals too frequently and spread himself too thin by wheeling & dealing which gave him a negative reputation.

I had a CTD conversion guy come by to look at my 77 CrewCab & I asked if he was going to put a 91-93 firewill in it & he said that all fit with the exception of where the A/C come out & the steering column

totally. Mark stopped to help me out on the way to the Nats when I had a flat tire and he didn't know me from Adam. I dealt with him a bit too much though and it came back to bite me in the end, but I still believe he is a good guy. I remember what you did for him when he got in the wreck and what it took to put the truck together.

I know that had to be a cold wet ride on the way

I don't know if I would have been able to do it.

Same here, seemed like a real standup guy. But I got burned by him on that 68 Dart post car I sold him, but he didn't have the money at the time to pay me...
